craigslist

I designed a mobile app for real estate agents to manage listings and an overwhelming number of responses from prospective renters each day. I've dabbled in real estate and and really wished there had been some better tools available to me. For this project, I was particularly interested in exploring ways to prioritize which clients to schedule.

The persona for this project, Betty, gets exponentially more responses in a day than she could ever follow up on, and simultaneously she is showing apartments, handling tenant applications, creating and managing ads, and getting new listings. She is extremely stretched timewise!

If the craigslist app could help Betty parse these responses down to a manageable group of pre-screened, well-matched potential clients, she could work more effectively with less guesswork. Ad responses are prioritized so that she only schedules prospects most likely to immediately sign leases.

I aimed to create a visual system that would distill complex information into a condensed format that could be analyzed at a glance.

Features & Innovation

Renters Profile: When replying to a craigslist ad for an apartment, potential renters would be encouraged to fill out a form to create their Renters Profile, which would be available to agents of all apartments they inquire about.

Prioritized Leads: Card-based listing of potential clients that is prioritized chronologically by availability to view apartments and further sorted by criteria match per apartment.

Visual Indicators of Availability: Availability is the first criteria used in assessing priority of leads. Availability is shown as blue coded timeslots.

Visual Match Chain: Each criteria match between a Renters Profile and an apartment is represented by a green square. Conversely, grey squares indicate that information is either missing or or is not a match for the apartment. A full green match chain would represent the ideal client for a specific apartment!

Visual Indicators of Proximity: Proximity is indicated with a blue circle to the right of availability and the match chain. Proximity is shown only for potential renters who have opted in and are currently within a specified radius of the apartment they are interested in. If Betty is at an apartment and sees that a potential renter is nearby, she may be able to arrange a last-minute showing.
